What does our taste in music say about us?

"I love youuuuu! This old heart (is weak for you)!"

Music stirs our emotions and can elavate our mood through celebratory chords and inspiring lyrics. As a tool of escapism, nothing is so easily accessible - "you know how to whistle, don't you?" - or so individually expressive.

When Oscar Wilde said, "fashion is what one wears oneself", he told us that to follow the style of others is to avoid style altogether. Style, or taste, is personal. You have to know yourself before you know what you like.

Of course, in the case of music it will often depend on what mood you're in. But next time you hear a song you like, ask yourself why you like it. You may find it quite revealing.

We now have more access to more music and more ways to express our tastes than ever before. It comes as no surprise that at a time when we can choose what we feed our ears, pop music is on a downwards curve while creating and reviewing playlists is more popular than creating and reviewing blogs.

Who would play you in a musical rendition of you life and what would your character be like? Or, to put it another way, what would the playlist to your life sound like?
